NSW: Public pool destroyed in blaze

SYDNEY, Dec 15 AAP - A suspicious fire has destroyed a 52-year-old swimming pool on the NSW north coast, forcing its closure.

Emergency services were called to the complex on Oliver Street, Grafton, about 11.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday.

It took firefighters several hours to extinguish the blaze and dampen hot-spots, police said in a statement.

The complex destroyed in the blaze housed administration offices, change rooms, toilets, a canteen and swimming club.

The cost of the damage has not yet been determined.

The blaze is being treated as suspicious.
